the thinker

I look at this photo from time to time, and I wonder, what was he thinking? Was he thinking at all? Or was he simply enjoying the warmth of the sun as he waited for nothing in particular?

And only now do I notice, and wonder, where were his shoes?

Perhaps he was trying to remember where he’d left them…

  1. He’s feeling in his pocket to see if he has enough change for breakfast at McDonald’s.

    • Thanks, glad you like it. I took the shot around Milsons Point/Luna Park, using the DSLR; I did also post a version on Instagram. Except for the image used in this post, all the photos in this blog are by me. 🙂

  2. i’m thinking it’s something along the lines of, gee, i should really clip my toenails…
that’s not to say it isn’t an excellent picture 🙂

  3. You use the light and shadows very well – sure does make you wonder what he was thinking – we’ll never know !

    • Thanks, Alex. True indeed. I always think about that scene at the end in Sofia Coppola’s Lost in Translation when Bill Murray’s character, Bob, whispers into Scarlett Johanssen’s Charlotte’s ear. What did he say? Ah, the mystery. What’s not seen/heard is definitely more interesting from time to time.

What say you?
